Parisio Indicted By Grand Jury On Murder Charges

Cranford man William Parisio, 23, was indicted early this morning by a Union County Grand Jury in the March 13 of his girlfriend, 22-year-old Pamela Schmidt.

Following the homicide, it was rumored that Parisio had been under the influence of - a drug that has since become illegal through Pamela's Law - at the time of the murder. Toxicology reports, however, prove otherwise.

"Toxicology reports revealed no presence of the substance in the defendant following his arrest," Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said in a press release Friday.

According to the indictment, Parisio struck Pamela Schmidt, 22, of Warren with a 12 lb. dumbbell and then strangled her. The indictment states that Parisio "did purposely and/or knowingly cause the death of Pamela Schmidt, and/or did cause serious bodily injury to Pamela Schmidt, resulting in her death." Schmidt's slain body was found in the basement of Parisio's home on Greaves Place.

Parisio has been charged with murder, unlawful Possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He to the charges during his court appearance on March 18.

Parisio remains in the Union County Jail on $400,000. Parisio's mother, Diane Parisio, told Patch last month that she had no intention of bailing her son out of jail, claiming that he is undergoing treatment and is benefitting from being in a structured environment.
