Final Medical Report Pending for Warren Man Killed in Crash

Alan Hatoff, 76, died last week after his vehicle struck a tree on Mount Horeb Road.

Warren Township police said they still do not know the cause of death of a 76-year-old township man who last Wednesday crashed into a tree on Mount Horeb Road, and reportedly never regained consciousness to say what happened.

Alan Hatoff, 76, died later that day at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, where he had been transported with injuries after the one-vehicle accident near 142 Mount Horeb Road at about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

There were no other passengers in the car or witnesses to the event, said Warren Police Lt. William Keane.

Keane said a preliminary medical examiner's report indicated the accident victim had died from blunt force trauma, but police still are waiting for a final report.

He said that police don't know if a medical emergency preceded the accident, which took place on a dry, clear day along a curve in the road.

Police also still are investigating the circumstances of the crash, Keane said.

According to an obituary on nj.com, services for Hatoff were held on Sunday, and he was laid to rest at interment will take place at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge. 

The obituary said he is survived by Alan is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Blossom (nee Ort); daughters, Harlee Hatoff (Barry E. Rosenberg), and Brenda Giordano (Steven); sons, Jay Hatoff and Kory Hatoff (Kathleen); six adoring grandchildren, and a multitude of family and friends.
