American Legion Reports Burglary

Warren Township Police Department's daily activity reports for the week of Jan. 22.

Jan. 25

A Miller Lane resident reported an incident of identity theft to police at 10:38 a.m.

A King George Road resident reported at 1:28 p.m. that he had received a bad check from someone.

The American Legion reported a burglary at 2:08 p.m. Police reported no obvious signs of forced entry, and $80 in cash was taken.

Jan. 24

Jory Vigliotti, 20, of Stirling,w as charged with possession of ecstasy, less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphrenalia, after police stopped the vehicle he was driving on Mountain Avenue at 12:09 a.m. He was also charged with careless driving, possession of drugs in a vehicle, and failing to maintain a lane.

No injuries were reported in an accident at Stirling Road and Mountain Avenue at 7:14 a.m., after a vehicle driven by Ethan Gerstman, 18, of Warren, hit a vehicle driven by Keith Ralston, 71, of Millington.

No charges were filed and no injuries reported after a vehicle driven by Christopher Hagen, 18, of Warren, hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Rudolf Sochor, 88, of Warren, on Mt. Bethel Road, near Maxwell Court, at 2:17 p.m.

Police are invetsigating a theft reported at 7:38 p.m. from a vehicle parked at a Mt. Bethel Road business, in which a purse, watch, iPad and jewelry were stolen. The victim initially feared items valued at more than $50,000 had been taken, but discovered many of the items were in fact not in the vehicle at the time of the theft. The final estimate of the value of stolen goods is $15,000.

Jan. 23

A Broadway Road resident reported an iPod, valued at less than $200, had been stolen from a vehicle sometime between November and December, 2011.

Jan. 22

A Red Hill Road resident reported the theft of jewelry valued at $30,000 from the residence sometime during the last month. Initial reports did not find evidence of a break-in to the house. Police are continuing to investigate the theft.

Jan. 21

Police responded to an accident at 3:40 p.m. on Stirling Road, after a vehicle driven by Christopher Backshell, 23, of Basking Ridge, crossed the roadway's center line and hit a vehicle driven by Charles Howarth, 47, of Scotch Plains. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Snow was blamed for an accident on Christy Drive at about 4 p.m., after a vehicle driven by Jennifer Eaton, 17, of Bridgewater, hit a vehicle driven by Richard Baker, 26, of Manville. No injuries were reported.

Jan. 20

Two residents reported someone threw eggs at their houses. A Softwood Way resident reported the incident at 9:06 a.m., and police recieved a subsequent complaint from a Heritage Drive resident at 3:17 p.m.

No injuries were reported after an accident on Liberty Corner Road, near I-78, at 10:25 a.m., when a vehicle driven by Marsha Danino, 59, of Marlboro, hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Lisa Vanhara, 32, of Basking Ridge.

Barbara Bauer, 87, of Bound Brook, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center for tretament of injuries received after the vehicle she was driving on the Washington Valley Road extension hit a vehicle driven by Anita Smith, 58, of South Plainfield. Bauer was pulling into traffic on Washington Valley Road when the accident occurred.

A vehicle driven by Warren Passmore, 87, of Basking Ridge, was hit by a vehicle driven by Antonio Caetano, 49, of Warren, at 7:33 p.m., as Passmore was pulling into traffic on Mt. Horeb Road, from Round Top Road. No injuries were reported in the accident.
