Two Seriously Hurt After Vehicle Strikes Pole

Mountain Avenue remains closed after early morning accident.

Two men have been hospitalized with serious injuries after the vehicle they were traveling inwestbound on Mountain Avenue, near Sage Drive, went off the road and hit a utility pole at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, police reported.

Driver Tyler Delino, 24, of Gillette, was taken to Morristown Medical Center for treatment of head injuries received in the accident.

Warren resident Steven Russo, 26, a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle, was taken to the UMDNJ in Newark for treatment of neck and back injuries.

Natasha Davis, 22, of Watchung, was riding in the back seat of the vehicle and sustained minor injuries, which were treated at the scene, police said.

Mountain Avenue remains closed between Hillcrest Road and Valley View Drive, as investigators with the Warren Police Department and Somerset County Crash Investigation Team continue to investigate the cause of the accident, and for repair of the utility pole and lines. Police said possible charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

Area rescue squads, including Warren, Watchung and Berkeley Heights, responded to the scene to provide extrication from the vehicle, with Warren Townshp Fire Department volunteers. Also responding were Berkeley Heights police.

Tanya- my family was with him last night. He's very hurt, broken neck, shattered pelvis, broken hip, contusion on lung- but he is gonna be ok. He is going to be in hospital for awhile, as he had neck surgery yesterday and is scheduled again today. All any of us can do is to pray for him- and he needs everyone's prayers.

This stretch of Mountain Avenue is getting known for all the drag racers who leave the 4 way light and want to test there skills often moving at over 50 MPH approaching the frst set of curves. We were w/o power for about 7 hours from this clearly careless driver. More police radar traps need to set up at key hours to stop or deter this reckless behavior. This driver will always be reminded of his careless/reckless behavior the rest of his life. hard to feel sorry on this one.

Apparently they took Bobbie's comment down since the comment made no sense... It seems people want to voice their opinions as to what happened and who was careless without knowing the facts. Van Grafas... You must have been standing out on the street to know that a deer didn't perhaps cut them off... Another car... Or yes perhaps plain carelessness on the driver but to complain about no power for 7 hours because of this is selfish. Perhaps when my cousin ( the passenger) gets out of the hospital he can come and apologize for your inconvience... In the meantime since you know it all and have time to make these remarks write your mayor about your suggestions.... In a future Patch we will see you complaining about your tax increase!!

Woah Laura ....Steven was in the passanger seat so how is that affecting his driving?? You sound a little silly and the answer to your question is that there is no txt that important but again, I don't know how that is going to affect someone sitting in the passanger seat not driving and Steven is my friend too and I would never do anything to put his life in danger.
Tanya July 25, 2012 at 10:20 AM
and actually it was your "friend" that put Steven in the hospital for drinking and driving so if you want to put the blame on someone point ur finger that way!! Put the blame where is really belongs!!! The person who was arrogant enough to get behind the wheel knowing he couldn't drive!!!
