Two Warren Township Officers Promoted After Lieutenant's Retirement

One more officer reportedly expected to be hired later in 2014.

Two Warren Township police officers were promoted to their new ranks of lieutenant and sergeant, as the 28-member police force reorganized following the retirement of township Capt. Robert Glen on the last day of 2013.

In an official ceremony at Wednesday's Township Committee reorganization meeting, Detective Sgt. Paul Dziedzic was promoted to lieutenant.

Ronald Roselli, formerly detective, was promoted to patrol sergeant, Lt. William Keane said on Thursday.

Keane said that Dziedzic had been promoted to lieutenant rather than as captain because the police chief and township officials had decided to reorganize with three lieutenant positions rather than two lieutenants and one captain.

The number of officers on the force had been 29 before the retirement of Glen, who had been with the department for 27 years, Keane said.

Currently, there are 28 officers in the department, including Police Chief Russell Leffert. The township plans to hire a 29th officer later this year, he said.

Roselli was earning a base salary as a grade 1 police officer of $100,732. His salary as a 2nd grade sergeant is $106,191, according to township figures from Township Administrator Mark Krane.

Dziedzic's base pay as sergeant 1st grade was  $113,457; as lieutenant 2nd grade his base pay will be $120,729, according to township figures.
