Water Main Break Affects About 1,000 Customers in Bernards Township

Water main break reportedly occurred on Valley Road on Sunday morning.

A water main break on Sunday morning has affected many areas of Bernards Township, with reports coming in everywhere from Fellowship Village retirement home to the Somerset Hills YMCA's Riverwalk facility, which closed as of 11 a.m.

Later on Sunday morning, at about 10 a.m., New Jersey American Water Company reported the water main breakage near Liberty Corner.

'The disruption is affecting approximately 1000 customers in Bernards Township who are without water. The rupture has been located and crews are on scene assessing the damage.'

Power expected to be restored in afternoon

At that time, the water company was projecting water service to be restored to most customers within five hours. Refer to NJAW customer service for further updates.

The break occurred on Valley Road, near the English farm, according to one township report.
