First Good News for Budgets: Township State Aid Unchanged

As school districts wait, towns learn aid figures after Gov. Chris Christie's budget address.

Warren Township will receive $1,321,130 in state aid this year, the same amount received in 2011, and that's making budget planning easier for municipal officials.

"It is in line with our tentative plan," Mayor Carolann Garafola said. "We were hoping the aid would at least be the same."

State aid accounted for 8.2 percent of last year's $16,132,267 municipal budget. The state aid figures are released following the governor's annual budget address—Gov. Chris Christie presented his 2012 budget plan Tuesday.
