Focus Shifts to Filling Electrical Service Gaps

Six days after Hurricane Irene knocked out power, hundreds remain without electricity.

Warren police officers are canvassing neighborhoods to identify the remaining locations of power outages today, after service was restored to many households and businesses yesterday.

JCP&L is reporting 498 customers are still without power in Warren, with the service disruption affecting neighborhoods rather than large segments of the township.

Residents on Olsen Road are still in the dark, with several using portable generators, as a power line still hangs dangerously low to the street at the intersection with Morton Lane.

Residents are reporting receiving phone messages indicating a work crew is being dispatched this afternoon to complete the repair.

Over on Liberty Corner Road, a JCP&L crew is working on the downed utility poles and lines that provide service to some of the neighborhoods between Christy Drive an Blazier Road.
