Kean Tops All Candidates in Local Primary Voting
And Lazo, Marion easily top write-in effort by Sardis.
Almost 5 percent of Warren's registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday's primary election.
A write-in bid for the Republican nomination for the race for two Township Committee seats announced several weeks ago by Tony Sardis garnered 122 votes for him, not enough to displace either Michael Marion, who received 342 votes, or George Lazo, with 333 votes, from the GOP column in November.
However, Sardis also received 11 write-in votes for the Democratic nomination for the Township Committee race. According to Township Clerk Patricia DiRocco, as the top vote-getter, Sardis could claim the Democratic nomination—but she said he filed a petition to be placed on the ballot as an independent candidate in the general election.
