Lazo, Marion Coast to Victory [VIDEO]

Proclaim "new generation" for Township Committee.

With more than 25 percent of Warren's voters casting ballots, Republicans George Lazo and Michael Marion will be the first new members of the Township Committee in more than 10 years.

Marion received a total of 1,487 votes, followed by Lazo's 1,437. Democrat Lisa Lontai received 1,062 votes, and Independent Anthony Sardis picked up 949.

The committeemen-elect thanked the support of the party members for the help and assistance they received, and said they would reach out to the other candidates to move past a difficult campaign.

"It's about Warren and making Warren a better town," Marion said.

"I'm humbled," Lazo said. "I'm going to stick with the frame of mind that we didn't want to go negative and we're not going to do that."

Lazo also credited their experience on the various community groups and committees they have served on as preparing them well for the campaign.
