March 19 Forum Set for Residents' Insurance Questions

Property damaged during last fall's storms? Get answers from experts.

A planned meeting for residents looking to resolve questions about what damage and loss suffered in last year's storms may be covered by their homeowner or property insurance has been set for March 19 at the municipal complex.

The forum will be led by Township Committeeman Vic Sordillo and will include Jean DiGrande of State Farm, Paul Gaglioti of Diversified Risk Solutions LLC, Dave Rittenhouse and Dave Wright of Rittenhouse Agency LLC, Samuel Jaffe of Sam Jaffe insurance, and David Balken and Latonya Jackson of G.R. Murray, a division of O‘Gorman & Young, Inc.

A township press release on the forum notes the township hopes "this event will assist in preparation both to reduce losses and to ensure the proper coverage. This forum is designed to educate our residents and is not an opportunity for the presenters to solicit insurance."

Sordillo announced plans to hold the meeting in December, noting that, "The standard homeowner's policy is very misunderstood...People don't understand the difference between surface water, flood, when a tree falls, whether it's covered, when it's not covered."

Many residents experienced substantial losses and property damage from Tropical Storm Irene, as well as the snowstorm which toppled trees and cut electrical service throughout Warren in October.
