VIDEO: Mayor Announces Progress on Power Outage, Closed Roads

Says King George Road now fully opened.

Warren Mayor Gary DiNardo held a 3 pm. press conference to update residents on efforts to restore electrical power in the township, as well as locations for water for those without it.

He reiterated the availability of showers and lavatories at the Somerset Hills YMCA locations, and Watchung Hills Regional High School (until 4 p.m.).

Additionally, the township will be providing water for residents at a tap located near the snack shack at the municipal ballfields behind the municipal complex.

DiNardo said crews are working on rerouting power lines from a substation off King George Road, near Mountain Avenue, to provide power to many of the JCP&L customers on Warren's east side without power for four days.

The rerouting is believed to enable the service to be restored without having to replace several utility poles broken during Hurricane Irene.

Also, crews working on the west side of town were expected to restore power in that area within a few hours.

Township offices do not have Internet or email connections, and the library remains closed without power.
