On the seventh day after losing electrical service, a JCP&L crew replaced a burned fuse to provide power to several streets in the area between Sunrise Drive and Round Top Road.
"We told them from the day it happened that's all that was needed," Olsen Drive resident Helene Cole said. "I'm so glad the power is on."
The company is showing 120 customers still without service, but Chief of Police Russell Leffert said crews are working to replace fuses, often the primary cause of the lost service, in several areas including Crestwood Drive, which should restore service to several streets in that area.
Replacing the fuses is a bit of a work-around, though—the service affected by the lines downed on Morton Lane is back on but the lines are still hanging and the road is closed. The crews will need to return later to replace a utility pole.
"Once they (JCP&L workers) were able to make sure they could it safely, they could replace the fuse," Chief Leffert said.
He said service has already been restored to Geiger Drive residences, as well as some in the King George Road area.
"We chipping away at it," he said.
Police are helping by showing the utility crews, many of whom are from out-of-state and relying on maps, the locations of bad fuses and downed lines.
