Warren Mayor Vic Sordillo Ends Term, Reflects on Township's Strengths

Letter to the Editor from Warren Township's outgoing mayor.

Mayor's Note: Warren Township Mayor Victor Sordillo is wrapping up his fourth one-year term as township mayor and 12th year on the Warren Township Committee. His current term as a member of the Warren Township Committee continues through the end of 2015. Next year's Warren Township mayor, to be selected by the five members of the Township Committee, is expected to be Gary DiNardo.

To the Residents of Warren Township,

As I complete another term as Mayor, I want to thank you, the Township Committee, the township staff and our volunteers for support throughout the year.  As those who have held this office before me, I care about providing Warren Township residents good leadership, and strive to deliver services with quality and tangible results.

Whether demonstrated by the development of one of the finest sports complexes in the country and a central playground that is the envy of neighboring townships; or a Township Committee that walks neighborhoods, celebrates the successes of the residents, and make house calls when asked; we are proud of Warren and all it has to offer.

In 2009, we never would have imagined that Warren Township would be ranked in the top ten great places to live in America by Money Magazine; but once again in 2013 we received the recognition by New Jersey Monthly of being the Best Place to Live in Central New Jersey and the second best place to live in the State.

We moved here because of the services and beauty. We stay here because of the people.

Our volunteers, from coaches to fire fighters, help us develop our children and protect our families. Our schools, from the professional educators to the PTO and School Board, not only educate our children but make the experience of learning enjoyable and challenging. Our seniors, from those working on committees to those setting up trips for the membership, develop bonds of friendships and create opportunities for entertainment and support.

Warren is a safe haven where you can attend a free concert or movie on a beautiful summer evening with friends and neighbors, spend some time at the Wagner Farm and Arboretum, or walk the Dealaman Nature Trail; and forget the troubles of the world.

We may have our differences at times but I believe we all agree that Warren is a great town with wonderful people.

Enjoy the holidays and have a safe and healthy 2014.

Regards,

Mayor Victor J. Sordillo
