Education Union to Rally at BOE Office

Statement says 341 members will attend on Monday evening to protest.

The Warren Township Education Association will be heading to the Board of Education office to hold a rally on Monday at 6 p.m., according to a release from the group.

The two parties have been negotiating for more than two years while their contract expired more than a year ago. A state-appointed mediator has working with the two groups for months.

The WTEA said its 341 members will be protesting what it calls “the board’s unwillingness to reach a fair settlement.” The group represents the district’s secretaries, paraprofessionals and teachers.

The WTEA also expressed its disagreement with statements by BOE President Greg Przybylski, saying he indicating that the Board of Education extended a fair and reasonable offer that the WTEA rejected.

“We are disappointed to learn that this board continues to antagonize the impasse situation with the remarks that they share with the public,” Fran Blabolil, WTEA president, said in the release. “Despite the fact that the law forbids it, Mr. Przybylski continues to fan the flames of discontent with information intended to mislead the public into believing the members of the WTEA are acting unreasonably.”
