5 Things To Know About Angelo L. Tomaso School

With classes starting Thursday, here's a look at what's new at ALT.

When school starts Thursday, more than 360 students will head to Angelo L. Tomaso  Elementary School. Here's a look at what's new at the school this year:

You Need To Know ALT Has More Fooddays: Students at the school can enjoy wider menu options now, with lunches offerd by such area restaurants as Café Giardino, Burger King, McDonalds (which provides breakfasts), Baja Fresh, Bagels 4 U, Ciro’s, Panatieri’s, Warren Deli, Sikikou, Muscle Maker Grill and FRESH. The options are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and now, the fourth Tuesday of each month. Be sure to register on the website www.myfooddays.com by Sept. 9 for the meals.

You Need To Know ALT PTO Fundraisers: This year, the PTO has plans to raise more than $60,000 to support classroom and school activities, including $9,800 for technology improvements, $7,500 for assemblies through the school year, and $6,000 for Author's Day. Insted of holding a series of fundraising, the PTO has suggested families make a one-time tax deductible donation of $50 per child or $100 per family of two children.

You Need To Know The School's New Teachers: ALT teachers Kristen Stoyanov (first grade) and Michele Kurilla (second grade) are out on child rearing leaves, and Elena Marinello and Michelle Jarmicki, respectivey, will fill in for them.

Students will also meet classroom paraprofessionals William Kielblock and Susan Cornet.

You Need To Know ALT Has A New Roof: During the summer months, the school had a new rood installed, part of the school district's long term facilities plan. 

You Need To Know ALT Is Getting Solarized: Now that the school's roof has been repaired and updated, work can begin on installing solar systems the school was approved as part of the county installation project. When completed, the school (and the district) will collect the benefit of a 170kW roof and a 104 kW canopy solar power systems.
