Graboyes Shoots 73, Finishes First in Skyland Tournament

Warriors tie for third in Delaware Conference.

Sophomore Luke Graboyes shot the low individual score of the tournament, a one over par 73, as the Watchung Hills Regional High School boys golf team competed in the Skyland Conference Golf Championships Thursday at Neshanic Valley Golf Course.

The victory was Graboyes' first high school tournament win.

The Warriors' team score of 316 placed them tied for third with Ridge in the Delaware Division, three strokes behind team winner Montgomery. Hunterdon Central was second at 315.

Graboyes' round didn’t start out well as he double bogied his first hole of the day, the 374 yard par 4 Meadow Course first hole.

“I didn’t give up or get over excited or down today,” Graboyes said talking about the start of his round. “After the double I played pretty consistent.”

As the early leaders struggled on the back nine Graboyes finished strong with four birdies over the last 7 holes of the Lake Course.
