High School Students Ready to Stage 'Little Women, the Musical'

Show opens March 14.

The spring production of Watchung Hills Regional High School’s Script & Cue Society, “Little Women, The Musical,” will take audiences back in time to the Civil War era, as described by the beloved American author, Louisa May Alcott.

Her  classic novel was transformed into a Broadway musical by Allan Knee, Jason Howland and Mindi Dickstein, and was first presented in 2005, starring Sutton Foster. Ever since, it has gained a loyal following, delighting audiences young and old through touring companies and regional theatre performances.

Based on Alcott’s recollections, as captured by Jo, one of the fictional four sisters who are the “little women” of the play, the script captures the spirit as well as the historical facts of the era. The performance thus not only enlightens students about American history and culture, but also, through song and dance, entertains as well.
