Input Sought for Woodland Redistricting Review

Two new subdivisions mean too many students in Woodland's current boundaries.

While no decisions have been made yet, Warren Township Schools Superintendent Tami Crader said it's likely some neighbrohoods now in Woodland School's area will have to be changed to Central School.

Dr. Crader said an estimated 35 new students will be enrolling from the Bellwood Acres on Hillcrest Road, along with an additional 20 students from another nearby development, will require shifting some students to Central.

"We are in the talking stage right now—no decisions have been made," Dr. Crader said at the Nov. 14 Board of Education meeting.

She said redistricting a few neighborhoods to Central "seemed the most logical choice," but she said a committee will be formed with parents and school officials to review the possible changes.

Dr. Crader vowed no changes would be made in school boundaries until the committee reviewed the school enrollments.

When questioned by a parent, Dr. Crader no decision would be made affecting classes before the 2012-2013 school year, so students currently in the fourth- and fifth-grades won't be affected.
