Watchung Hills PTO Dinner Bids a Final Farewell to Thomas DiGanci

Group announces plans for a memorial fountain at school track.

principal Tom DiGanci will officially retire at the end of this week, and on Monday evening, the WHRHS Parent Teacher Organization hosted a dinner at in Warren in his honor. 

Dr. DiGanci started at WHHS in 1972 teaching  history and has spent his entire career in the Watchung Hills school system with 33-years at the high school and a brief seven-year stint at Watchung's Valley View School.

Over those 40-years, Dr. DiGanci has filled many roles; history teacher, assistant and head wrestling coach, assistant girls track coach, head coach boys track and girls cross-country, vice principal and principal. He also supervised the summer recreation program of Warren Township, taught Driver Education, and has been a night supervisor for the Watchung Hills Adult School.

At the dinner on Monday, the PTO presented a gift to Dr. DiGanci in honor of his long service to WHHS. Because of his many years involved with sports at the high school, a fountain will be built by the track and dedicated in his name.

Dr. DiGanci, who lives in nearby Green Brook, doesn't have any specific retirement plans yet, but said, "I know I'll be involved in something."
