One Magazine Puts Watchung Hills Among Nation's Best

But another leaves school in the cold.

This week, Newsweek magazine is reporting its "America's Best High Schools" rankings, and

The school comes in at no. 42 for the state's schools—about 10 spots higher selective schools are taken from comparison—and the 514th best in the nation.

Contrast that with the rankings posted two weeks ago by U.S. News and World Report, which left Watchung Hills Regional unranked.

The difference?

The U.S. News rankings do not score test results, instead focusing on participation in AP classes and the state HSPA test results.

Newsweek says its list "is based on six components: graduation rate (25 percent), college acceptance rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course (5 percent)."
