Primrose School Opens in Warren

Six months after breaking ground on Mt. Bethel Road, 11,800 sq. foot school opens.

Primrose Schools, the nation’s leader in educational child care with more than 220 schools nationwide, will make its flagship entrance into New Jersey on January 23, 2011 with the opening of the Primrose School of Warren. Located at 117 Mt. Bethel Road, the new school opening is part of the company’s overall growth strategy to open six to 10 schools in the market over the next five years.

Burt Eng and Linda Chen, a local husband-and-wife team and owners of the Primrose School of Warren, are on mission to make a difference in the lives of area children and their families by offering a high-quality, accredited curriculum that prepares students for success in both school and life. The couple was first introduced to the Primrose model while exploring early childhood care options for their infant son.

Unlike any other school in New Jersey, the Primrose School of Warren will use the Bracken Assessment to ensure the effectiveness of the Balanced Learning® curriculum. Balanced Learning® considers multiple aspects of growth and learning– social, emotional, physical and cognitive-- as Primrose determines what experiences children need at different stages of their development. Developed by and taught exclusively at Primrose Schools, Balanced Learning blends teacher-directed and child-initiated activities with a special emphasis on character development in its schools.

Results at the national level indicate Primrose students are ready for school – more than 90 percent of Primrose students mastered 80 percent of the Bracken school readiness concepts. Primrose students also show 1.5 times more growth than their peers in concepts mastered by the end of the school year.

“We couldn’t be more proud to bring the Primrose name and its highly-regarded, accredited curriculum to New Jersey,” said Eng. “Our new school will give local parents the peace of mind they need and deserve, knowing that their children are learning and being nurtured while they’re away at work.”

Executives with Primrose Schools are looking to build off the New Jersey debut with a much larger, state-wide development. After conducting extensive research, Primrose Schools’ executives found that while the demand for high quality educational child care continues to grow throughout New Jersey, providers are limited. Meanwhile, many existing Primrose Schools nationwide are seeing solid enrollment numbers, and many schools have wait-lists.

The 11,800 square foot Primrose School of Warren has already positively impacted the local economy by adding 20 to 25 new jobs, and $3 million in project costs. The school will feature 11 private classrooms with state-of-the-art wireless technology. Outdoors, 7 separate and secure age-appropriate playgrounds will accommodate each stage of the children's early development with equipment specifically designed to help them develop and grow their gross motor skills. Children also develop their fine motor skills in the Primrose Patch – a garden.

As safety is a top priority, the new school also features the official Primrose Schools Safe School Plan, which provides guidelines to ensure ongoing safety measures are in place and parents as well as staff members are prepared for any kind of emergency. A password-protected website keeps parents informed of the emergency procedures and any critical information in the case of a situation requiring immediate attention at the school.

To introduce the Primrose School of Warren to the community, a Grand Opening celebration will be hosted on Saturday, January 28, 2012. The celebration will feature the ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Chinese Lion Dance.
