Stunned Board Accepts Toubin Resignation

Citing inability to attend meetings, Patricia Toubin steps down from Warren Township Board of Education.

member Patricia Toubin resigned from the board because she said she had missed too many meetings and "it isn't fair to the people who elected me."

Toubin, a vice principal at , was nearing the end of her second term. She had missed several recent meetings, and said she would miss the meetings that have been rescheduled for Tuesday nights this month and in March.

"I'd be misssing the meetings because of that change of schedule," she said. "I feel that I can't represent the people who voted me in."

She said her resignation was effective immediately. Board Vice President Mildred Spiller asked if Toubin would stay on the board if the meeting dates were changed back to Mondays as the board had initially planned, but Toubin said the board had already discussed the dates several times and the majority determined the dates.

Tubin then excused herself and left the meeting.

"Having been elected and re-upped with Patricia, I will miss her," Board President Gregory Przybylski said.

Superintendent Tami Crader said the board would review the procedure for selecting a new board member to fill Toubin's term, which would have expired at the end of the year after the board approved moving the school elections to November.
