Varsity Cheerleaders' Clinic to Feature Local Champs

Competitive squad offers lessons, even while seeking its own crown.

A cheerleading clinic scheduled for Friday as a fundraising event for the Watchung Hills Varisity competition cheer team to travel to the national finals will include performances by younger—and already nationally-placed—cheerleaders.

The team's Nationals Fundraising Cheer Clinic, slated for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Watchung Hills Regional High School's Gym 4, will provide skills training by WHRHS Coach Elaine Perry. Perry will teach new sideline cheers, dance, motions, jumps and much more.

Particiapnts will be divided into age-based groups to train on skills appropriate to their age and abilities.

The fee for the clinic is $20 in advance, $25 at the door. To preregister, email Perry at dollygirl4@optonline.net with the name of the participant, and bring payment (cash or checks payable to Watchung Hills) to the clinic.

And members of the Watchung Hills Pop Warner Jr. Pee Wee and Midget cheerleading teams, which placed third and second, respectively, at the National Cheer Championships in December, will perform the routines theye performed.
