Warren's Inclusionary Preschool Program Ready for Applications

Selection for program for both mainstream and special need students to be filled by lottery drawing.

Warren Township schools' innovative integrated preschool program for 4-year-old students with and without special educational needs is seeking applicants for the 2012-2013 school year.

This marks the third year for the program, which includes transportation for the half-day classes at Mr. Horeb School. The program can accomodate as many as nine non-special needs students. Registrations are due by the end of January, and students will be accepted through a lottery drawing set for February.

"Many school districts provide integrated preschool programs for students with disabilities to have the opportunity to be educated with their non-disabled peers—these programs also provide a preschool program in the public school for any child in the community," Dr. Faye Brady, the district's director of special services, said. "We have found the program to be very successful for both our students with special needs as well as the non-disabled students."
