Warren Seeks to 'Reinvigorate' Town's Education Foundation, Mayor Says

Officials said they want to reactivate once-active fundraising arm to support local schools.

Once a thriving organization that brought out 200 people to a fundraiser, the Warren Township Education Foundation is about to be revived, with the goal of raising funds for township schools, Mayor Victor Sordillo announced at Thursday's Township Committee meeting.

"We are reinvigorating the Warren Township Education Foundation," Sordillo said at the meeting, although he provided few details that night.

He said the goal is to encourage the community to become more involved in fundraising for the local school system.

Warren Township Schools Superintendent Tami Crader, who was in the audience, added during public comment, "We have big dreams for what the foundation can do."

For example, she said, a major wish on the list is the equip all of the schools in the kindergarten through grade 8 school system with 21st-century computer labs.

Crader said she is "thrilled" to be inheriting the education foundation that was active in years past.
