Warren Students Sign Letters of Intent for College Sports

Six members of Watchung Hills Regional High School’s graduating class have passed one of the major hurdles of their senior year: They have secured a place in the freshman class of the college of their choice.

Moreover, their outstanding records as athletes in various sports have made them eligible for scholarship assistance at their respective colleges Outstanding participants in their various sports, the seniors all pledged their participation in the athletic programs of their respective colleges via a yearly ritual known as the Letter of Intent.

  • Joey Rocchietti, who will play baseball at Manhattan College (New York City). The Green Brook resident, whose coach is Mario Diez, is an outstanding pitcher.
  • Female soccer stars, all Warren Township residents coached by Sean Mealy, include Geanna Donnelly, who will attend Mount Saint Mary College (Emmitsburg, MD); Jessica Soldiviero, who will continue playing at Loyola University (Baltimore); and Jessica Heifetz, who will play at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
  • Matt Coppola, Warren resident, whose Hills coach has been Dan Smith, will continue wrestling at Bucknell University (Lewisburg, PA).
  • Jeff George of Warren, coached by Jamie Lovejoy, will continue playing lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst).

Another Class of 2013 member, Millington resident Abby Cline, signed a Letter of Intent last fall and will play softball as a freshman at the University of Delaware next September.
