Watchung Hills PTO President Seeking Additional Volunteers

Active group needs more help—especially with the signature Project Graduation event.

A plea for help from the Watchung Hills Regional PTO has drawn some responses, but if more volunteers aren't found soon, next year's Project Graduation may be threatened.

WHRHS PTO President Kristy Hartman has been gearing up for the next school year, and hasn't found volunteers to help organize the annual post-graduation party, which is organized by students and parent volunteers.

In recent years, the Project Graduation event has been held at the Morris-Union Jointure Development Center, although 2013 Project Graduation co-chairwomen Marie Mluzan and Mary Lou DiRosa sought to have the event moved to the Funplex amusement center in East Hanover.

But whomever steps up for organizing next year's event has a clean slate to work with.

"A site has not yet been found," Hartman said. "I am now working with the senior class president on locating a place."

Hartman said she suspects people are too busy and unable to commit to the PTO at this time, but she hopes to recruit more parents for this year's PTO.

"All the things the PTO does and Project Graduation are too important to drop the ball or not give 100 percent," she said.

More information about the PTO, as well as membership forms, can be found on the school website
