Watchung Hills Seeks Next Hall of Fame Class

Know a former student who belongs in the school's Hall of Fame? Nominate them now.

Nominations to Watchung Hills Regional High School’s Hall of Fame are being accepted through Thursday, Jan. 30, 2013. Nomination forms may be obtained at the school’s main office at 108 Stirling Road, Warren Township. They may also be accessed on the school website.

The names of the 2013 honorees will be announced at the end of  February, and an induction/reception ceremony for those who have been selected by the nominating committee is scheduled for Friday evening, April 26, in the school’s Performing Arts Center.

The Watchung Hills Hall of Fame, now in its sixth year, honors alumni of the school who have achieved distinction either during their high school years or in professional or community life thereafter, and also acknowledges individuals such as school board members, teachers, coaches and others who exemplify outstanding service to the school.  Nominations of individuals who were nominated but not selected will be retained for consideration for four years.

If someone wishes to suggest a potential Hall of Fame candidate but lacks complete information about that person, please fill out the nomination form and contact Vice Principal Terry MacConnell at tmacconnell@whrhs.org, or call him at (908) 647-4800, Ext. 6975, for assistance.  Every attempt will be made by the Hall of Fame committee to gather additional information about that nominee.

Those honored are recognized by a personalized plaque in the school’s main lobby. The Hall of Fame, in its five years of existence, includes 48 persons who represent many fields, such as teaching, music, public service, entertainment, athletics, science, and so on.

I nominate Sue Tucker. She is a wonderful person who has given many years of service to the town and the schools. She has been on the hospitality committee of the Watchung Schools for 12 years. She has been the Project Graduation Coordinator for the class of 2012, she is on the Rec. Board for the town of Watchung, has volunteered for MANY town functions at Mobus Field including heading the Boy Scouts, bringing items for raffle from Coldwell Banker to the Harvest Festival every year, she is on the Historical Commission of Watchung, is a wonderful person and never says "NO" to volunteer for anything. This is in addition to caring for her loving family, her mom who has just passed and her mother-in-law who is ill. She graduated from WHRHS. I believe she SHOULD be on the Hall of Fame.
