In Short

The Warriors played a strong first half defensively, fighting off a barrage of chances from one of the top teams in the state in Bridgewater-Raritan.  Watchung only trailed 1-0 at the half.  Two goals early in the second half and two in the closing minutes was enough to claim the victory for the Panthers.  Watchung Hills is now 1-11 on the season.

Warrior of the Game

Kathleen Finnegan – The senior goaltender fended off several point blank chances in the first half and did a great job of keeping her squad in the game.  Although allowing a couple goals in the second half, it could have been a lot worse without Finnegan’s great play.

Other Key Performances

Kaitlyn Andersen – The senior back anchored the defensive effort in front of Finnegan in the first half.  Andersen led the way in thwarting numerous penalty corners in the first half to keep the Warriors close during the first half of play.

Coach’s Take

“Our defense hung together because we were in zone for the first half.  It unraveled as we got tired.  We became more hesitant.” – Head Coach Maria Bachert on the first and second half

“Moving to the ball as a unit…we have the thought process, but we’re not quite there yet.  From the beginning of the season until now, we’ve come a long, long way.  It’s a lot of my players first year on varsity.” – Head Coach Maria Bachert on improvements that still need to be made
