Hundreds Line Up for Baseball Skills Event
Warren Baseball Softball held its first MLB Pitch, Hit and Run competition May 6.
Warren Baseball Softball Inc. held its first competition for recreation players to show off their skills at pitching, hitting and running bases last week, and the winners will be competing with other young players in the area on May 22.
The event was part of the Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run, and is free for recreational ball players between 7 and 14 years of age to participate. Accoridng to the Major League Baseball website, the Pitch, Hit and Run "is an exciting skills competition that provides boys and girls the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championship events at all 30 Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game."
"We had about 100 kids come out for the event," Doreen Berry, who helped organize the event, said. "We did not know how many to expect, being this was our first time running this event."

The May 22 area event will be hosted by the Franklin Township Little League at the township's Little League fields at 51 DeKalb St., Somerset, beginning at 9 a.m.
