Jr. Warriors Wallop Voorhees to Claim Top Playoff Seed

Will play Hillsborough Saturday at Watchung Hills Regional High School.

Due to a snow cancellation 10 days ago, the Junior Warrior Varsity met with Voorhees, their final regular season opponent Tuesday night and walked away with a 30-8 win and top playoff seed in the Junior Skyland Football Conference.

On their first possession, the Jr. Warriors marched 46 yards down the field highlighted by a 22-yard reception from QB Mark Ball to Frank Rica and an 8-yard reception to Dylan Badger. Sean Mullaney finished up with a TD run from 1 yard out.

TE Frank Rica shined in the next two possessions with 2 TD receptions, a 35-yard strike from QB Ball and a 30-yard grab from QB Jim Zilinski. With the score at 24-0, Watchung Hill's seventh graders took to the field offensively late in the 1st quarter.

On defense, the Jr. Warriors held Voorhees to 102 yards total, due to four key interceptions from Darren Calleo, Alec Pezuti, Jim Zilinski and Jon Catania—whose 50-yard runback culminated in the Jr. Warriors fourth touchdown. Alex Sibilla, Tyler Nelson and Mario Valladares tallied four tackles apiece with Sibilla and Tyler Furlong each tacking on a fumble recovery.

The Jr. Warriors begin their playoffs against fourth seed Hillsborough at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Watchung Hills Regional High School.
