Watchung Hills' Mike Magaldo has a bull's eye on his back that every 126-pound wrestler in New Jersey can see—he's the one to beat as the 2013 state wrestling tournament gets underway.
The 2012 state champion is off to good start in Wednesday's first-round of the regionals, after he defeated Cranford's Andrew Tompkins, 21-4, according to the first round results posted on NJ.com, in Union. He'll face seventh-seeded Isaac Valentin, from Rahway, next.
Four other Warriors also advanced:

- Matt Coppola, also second seeded, earned a major decision over Kyle Bota, of Parsippany Hills, at 138 pounds (Coppola has been moving up in ranking and may crack the top 10); he'll take on seventh-seed Dylan Pollock, of Millburn.
