Unbeaten Watchung Hills Jr. Midget Wolverines to Face Bridgewater

Wolverines improved to 6-0 with shutout of Woodbridge team.

The undefeated Watchung Hills Jr. Midget Wolverines improved their record to 6-0, and continued the Pop Warner football team's winning streak, with a 28-0 win over the Golden Knights of St. Cecilia's from Woodbridge last Sunday.

The scoring started in the first quarter with a 35-yard run by Thomas Schelling behind the blocking of Ryan Pedrani and Chris Clintock. Chase Jones added a highlight for the day with a 40-yard punt return for the Wolverines' second score. Clintock added the kick.

The Wolverines' defense remained stingy and did not allow the Knights one first down in the first half. Devon Bennet added a score with a 3-yard plunge for a touchdown in the middle of the second quarter, and Clintock added the kick.

Pedrani, Jonathan Taub, Matt Cardoza, Matt Roth and Gary Gaglioti stuffed the Knight's offense again and the Wolverines took over on the Knights' 45-yard line.

Five plays later, Chance Modica found the endzone on an 8-yard carry over the left side behind the blocking of Kevin Caracappa, Rob Saum and Andrew Haiken.

Second half highlights included a blocked pass by Clintock, blocked punt by Connor James, three carries for 14 yards by A.J. Verardi, and an interception by Ryan Trimble.
