Warren Players Ignite All-Star Team

Four local boys helped Central Jersey Baseball League American League All Star team win tournament.

Warren Baseball Softball Inc (WBSI) sent four players from the 12U Wolverines travel team to represent the town in the 2012 Central Jersey Baseball League All Star Game, played July 7 in Hall Stadium in Union where 12 towns sent the best players from the two divisions (American and National) in the league.

Shaun Cagnetta (short stop), Nick McGann (third base), Andrew Morrison (left field) and Michael Weber (pitcher) were elected by their Warren teammates as the town's official American League representatives.

After falling behind to the National League All Stars 3-0, the Warren players ignited the first scoring for the American League with a single and two stolen bases by Andrew Morrison and a walk by Michael Weber with both players scoring.

Michael Weber pitched an excellent inning while Shawn Cagnetta and Nick McGann played great infield defense. Nick McGann added a single late in the game as the American League All Stars defeated the National League All Stars 8-5.

"Shaun, Nick, Andrew and Michael represented the town very well," commented head coach Bob Morrison. "The level of play this year was outstanding. It was great to have our players get the team jump started with the first runs of the game."

The towns represented in the Central Jersey All Star Game were: American League: Chatham, Long Hill, Springfield, Union, Warren and Westfield (White)National League:  Branchburg, Berkley Heights, New Providence, South Orange/Maplewood, Summit and Westfield (Blue).

The 12U Warren Wolverines season continues with the second half of league play continues this week. The team will be traveling to Myrtle Beach on July 29th to compete in the week long Cal Ripken Myrtle Beach Wave Rider Tournament.
