Warriors Top JFK-Iselin in Wrestling Home Opener [VIDEO]

The Watchung Hills Regional wrestling team added another win to its season record Wednesday, topping Iselin's John F. Kennedy High School 43-30.

After winning the first three matches on points, the Warriors ran into trouble at 152 lbs. and 160 lbs. Matt Carroccia then notched a pin at 170 lbs., and Alex Fornelos pinned Chad Barrall at 182 lbs.

The teams then see-sawed in the upper weights, with JFK's Ryan Aston pinning Ernesto Ancazco at 195; Watchung's Anthony Carbajal pinning Darvin Tejada at 220; and JFK's Anthony Comi pinning Anthony Rizzolo.

The Warriors took advantage at the lower weights, notching two pins (Alex Pollera at 106 lbs. and David Mupo at 120 lbs.) and Mike Magaldo scoring a 6-0 decision over Collin Farley.

"We knew it was going to be close," head coach Dan Smith said, noting JFK had lost by just five points to fifth-ranked North Hunterdon last week.

"Our guys wrestled well—we got bonus points when we needed to and got the points we wanted to," he said.

The wrestlers will now prepare for Saturday's Somerset County Tournament.
