Watchung Hills Pop Warner Game Results

From Saturday, October 2nd.

Blue Flag 

The Wolverines turned in a great rushing effort behind the blocking of center Jackson Scala; Luke Freijomil (3 carries for 30 yards), Tyler Marion (4 carries for 70 yards), Riley McCann (4 carries for 30 yards) and Kenny McGoldrick (2 carries for 15 yards) each had a touchdown and Vincent Freijomil (5 carries for 85 yards).

On defense, Martin Howell, Luke and Vincent Freijomil and Elhanan Wilson each pulled five flags and Jake Checchio grabbed three flags.

Gold Flag

The Wolverines battled the Dawgs of Delaware Valley this Sunday.  The Wolverine offense dominated the day behind two 40-yard sprints for touchdowns by Timothy Marshall and Colin Archbold's three scores.  Dylan Kelly completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Colin Archbold at the end of the first half.

The Wolverine defense held the Dawgs to just 80 yards in offense.  Aqili Holmes dominated the defensive line grabbing nine flags on the day.  Matthew Dahl picked off a pass and took it in for the score.  Colin Archbold (4 flags), John King (4 flags), Matthew Dahl (4 flags) and Dylan Kelly (3 flags) combined to shut down the Dawgs running game.

Junior Flag

The Wolverine offense took it to the Dawgs of Delaware Valley scoring four times on the day.  Quentin Tao broke off a 40-yard TD run and was joined in the end zone by Travis Jelmert (35-yard run), Buddy Steen (25-yard run) and Joseph Vecchio (10-yard run).  Ryan Johnson had a 35-yard run and Dalton Rosenfarb's 15-yard scamper helped set up a touchdown.

The defense dominated behind Quentin Tao's six flags and Travis Jelmert's five.  Buddy Steen pulled four flags while Jonathan Hold grabbed three.  Nathan Scala and Joseph Vecchio each grabbed two flags.  Benjamin Dubois, Dylan Downey, David Hatcher, Ryan Johnson and David Rosenfarb pulled one flag each. 

Mighty Mite

The Wolverine Mighty Might team faced off against the DelVal Dawgs this past Sunday. The Wolverines were ready for the challenge and jumped on the Dawgs early in the game as #22 John Annunziata took the opening kick off back 68 yards for the score. The Wolverines quickly struck again on their next possession as Annunziata raced around the left side of the defense for the TD to cap off a 4 play 44 yard drive. The defense got into the scoring on the very next play as LB Justin Ferriera intercepted a DelVal pass and returned it 43 yards for the 3rd TD of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Wolverine offense had another long possession that ended in a 6 yard TD run by Luke Malfetti. RB's Mark Lapioi, Jonathan Demontagnac and Luke Marion all moved the chains on this drive.

The defense was outstanding all day long. The linebacker unit of Mike Butrico, Pat Stefurak, Luke Marion, Justin Ferriera and Luke Malfetti cleaned up anything that got past the line of scrimmage. Marion led all tacklers with 8, Butrico added 7 and Ferriera 6 to lead the defense. Also having strong performances on defense were NG Bryce Rooks, DE Jonathan Demontagnac, DT Shane Kelly and CB Giovanni Salermo.

Jr. PeeWee

Watchung Hills Wolverines Jr Pee Wee offense rolled Del Val 30-7. Connor Cook scored the first one followed Chris Clintocks PAT.  Gavin Defuria, Matty Colantuono and Chris Clintock each scored as well.  Jack Taub had a good day running the ball also as he tallied 50 yards on 6 carries.  The offensive line anchored by Center Anthony Tomaro and Guard Mike Fornaro  opened up big holes for the running backs.

The Wolverine defense stuffed the Del Val offense all game holding them to 2 first downs.  The defense was led by the ferocious line of Robbie Saum, Michael Coacher, David D'Amore ,Matty Colantuono and Joey Rica.  They kept the Del Val quarterback under constant pressure sacking him several times. The linebacker group of Connor Cook, Jack Taub and Andrew Reale dominated the Delval running backs all day shutting down the ground attack completely.  The secondary once again was awesome Anthony DeNave, TJ Pecoraro ,Chris Clintock, and Gavin DeFuria were all over the del val receivers.  DeNave and DeFuria each had interceptions and Clintock had a batted ball to seal the game.  The Jr Pee Wee team travels to Bridgewater this weekend for an MVC showdown. Both teams are 6-0.

PeeWee

 The Watchung Hills Wolverine Pee Wee team dominated the Colts of Phillipsburg on Sunday 19-8. The scoring started in the first quarter with a 20 yard pass from Josh Hansen to Nick Ugarte. The Wolverine defense shut down the diversified attach of the P’burg offense and Hansen hooked up with Eric Plesko for another score early in the second quarter. A great second effort by Tommy Schelling earned an extra point for the Wolverines. Hansen ran the ball 20 yards to set up another score by Plesko on a great catch and run up the right side. The second half was dominated by defense from both teams and P’burg scored with 3 minutes left in the game. Brendan Cook, Tyler Jelmert, Jonathan Taub, Robby Zito, Plesko and Schelling all played well on defense.
