Concert Kicks Off Big Family Night in Warren

Friday's family campout will begin with music and a movie.

Warren families looking for a little outdoor adventure without having to fight Pocono traffic can head to the municipal complex Friday night.

There, they'll find a night out with music, a movie and more...or should we say "s'mores"?

Warren Recreation Commission Director Eleanora Hermann said the usual Thursday night outdoor concert was moved to Friday to add something extra for families.

"We just thought it made sense," she said. "That way, people can enjoy the music while they're setting up."

Whether signed up for the sleep-over, or just dropping by, residents can relax with the Michael Craig Band beginning at 6 p.m. That will be followed by the Robin Williams comedy "RV," showing at about 8 p.m.

Hermann said the movie will be followed by a campfire (with s'mores).

Last year's event drew about 60 campers, and so far, about the same number of campers have registered, according to Hermann—but there is room for more (go to the Recreation Commission's webpage to signup).

And in case you have any doubts about the event because of today's rainy weather: the forecast for Friday is calling for another sunny and warm day, followed by a cool night—perfect for camping!
