Elks Lodge Sets Saturday Soccer Shoot-out

Kids up to 13 years of age can test their soccer skills—and advance in the national program.

Get ready to put your best foot forward at the Watchung Elks Soccer Shoot, 9 a.m. Saturday. Winners in the local event will advance to district competition.
The annual event, held at the Watchung Hills Elk Lodge, off of Bardy Road, will include four age brackets: 7 and under (born 2004 to present); 8 and 9 (Aug. 1, 2002, to July 31, 2003); 10 and 11 (Aug. 1, 2000, to July 31, 2001); and 12 and 13 (Aug. 1, 1998, to July 31, 1999). Be sure to bring a copy of the birth certificates for all chidlren participating.

The Elks Soccer Shoot program includes two contests, a "five goal contest" for kids up to 9 years of age, and a "grid goal" contest.

The "Five Goal Contest" tests each participant by having them kick five goals into sequentially smaller goals, from 48 inches to 17 inches.

The "Grid Goal Contest" awards points for goals kicked into diferent sections of a standard size goal.
