Middle School's Indoor Walk-a-thon Nets $10,200

Students pledge funds for three Sandy relief nonprofits.

Warren Township Middle School held its sixth annual charitable walk-a-thon Friday, where more than 900 people raised money for three charities in New Jersey geared at helping restore the shore.

The Jersey Strong theme allowed students to give back to their community following the devastation to the state due to Hurricane Sandy.

Through the character education program at Warren Middle School, the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders and their teachers prepared for several months the details of the walk-a-thon. The rainy weather on day of the event resulted in an indoor walk-a-thon where the students and the staff took to the hallways to walk together for a bigger purpose.

  • St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, Foster a Sandy Pet - $4,500
  • Somerset County United Way Disaster Relief Fund - $2,000

This year’s Jersey Strong mission will help three reputable organizations in their efforts to restore the shore.
