Scout's Project will Teach Color Guard Basics

Alison Draikiwicz, a three-year member of Watchung Hills Marching Band Color Guard, will share her knowledge.

Warren Girl Scout Alison Draikiwicz combined two of her favorite avocations—Girl Scouting and the color guard at Watchung Hills Regional High School—into a great project.

Alison has organized a color guard clinic for middle school and high school girls in Warren, Watchung, Long Hill and Green Brook as her community project for the Girl Scout Gold Award.

"I have been a member of the Watchung Hills Marching Band Color Guard for three years and have been a member of Warren Troop 65926 since kindergarten," she said.

The clinic is an instructional clinic created to teach middle and high school students basic color guard skills as well as a routine and in the process prepare them to eventually join the WHRHS Marching Band Color Guard. No experience is required to participate, so beginning and more experienced performers are welcome to join.

There will be a performance for parents and a pizza party on the last day.

The clinic will be July 8 - 11th (rain date of July12th), 9 am to noon,  at the field next to the Warren Library. The cost is $20.
