Volunteers Clean Up Warren on 'Beautification Day'

Volunteers remove trash from locations around the township during annual event.

This past Saturday attracted volunteers from around the township — of different ages — to pitch in an clean up litter from Warren Township's parks, nature trails, on municipal grounds and from roadsides on the annual Warren Beautification Day. 

Beautification Day began at the township's Public Works Garage at the municipal complex at 1 Bardy Road. The annual event to help keep the Township of Warren beautiful then kicked off when supplies such as trash bags, gloves and trash pickers were will be provided to all volunteers, who then fanned out to different locations.

Warren Township Committeewoman Carolann Garafola said she and her group removed litter from the Hofheimer Trail and upper ballfields.

Garafola said, "I was surprised by how little trash there was." She said she believes residents are being fairly considerate when it comes to not tossing trash — which would only make their fellow township residents have to work harder.

She said that Beautification Day has been going on for many years, and "absolutely" helps keep the township clean.
