Closed Warren Library Holds Some Programs Nearby, Santa Letters Start This Week

This is last Thursday the farmers market will be open at Wagner Farm Arboretum, with last date on following Tuesday.

The Warren Township branch of the Somerset County remains closed through early December for repainting and other building upgrades, after having closed last Monday, but some programs are continuing anyway, with special events scheduled this week at the Warren courtroom at the municipal complex next door at Mountain Boulevard.

Library patrons must pick up and drop off materials at other branches, with the closest being Watchung, while the building is closed, but an arrangement has been made with the township to host some programs in the courtroom.

The following programs are scheduled for this week in the Warren courtroom at 44 Mountain Boulevard.

  • Monday at 6:30 p.m.: Parent/Teacher Program — Let the Brain Games Begin Toys and Games to Boost your Brain Power.
  • Wednesday at 7 p.m.: Identity Theft, presented by Kevin Lynch, from the Society of Financial Awareness.
  • Saturday, at 2 p.m.: The Music of the British Invasion, performed by the group “Carnaby Street!” led by Chris Roselle.

Also on Monday, the Book Club is scheduled to meet from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. at the Watchung Library branch.

Registration is open for these programs through the library website or by calling 908-754-5554.

Get ready for Santa letters

It may seem a little early for some, but starting this Thursday, the red mailbox will be back in front of the Warren Township municipal building at 41 Mountain Boulevard for the drop off off letters for Warren Township children who want a personalized letter from Santa.

The township website says that the Warren Township Recreation Commission has been approved by Santa to gather mail from township children and deliver it to the North Pole.

Mail will be accepted from Thursday, Nov. 21, through 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Every child who drops off a letter will receive a personalized letter back from Santa, the website says, but after December 14, "Santa will be busy getting ready for the holiday and will not be able to answer any more letters."

Parents are asked to be sure to include a return address.

No stamp is needed, as per special arrangement.

Letters should be dropped off at the red mailbox in front of the Municipal Building or mailed to: “Santa” Warren Twp. Recreation Commission, 46 Mountain Blvd., Warren, NJ 07059.
