School Budget Planning Begins, Monday Meetings Moved to Tuesday This Week

New mayor will begin leading Warren Township Committee meetings.

Since the federal holiday recognizing Martin Luther King's birthday will close both the Warren Township school district and Watchung Hills Regional High School on Monday, Board of Education meetings for both of those school systems are moved to Tuesday this week.

Schools, municipal offices and the local branch of the Somerset County Library system in Warren Township all are closed on Monday.

The Warren Township school board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Central School, 109 Mt. Bethel Road in Warren.

A major item on the agenda includes Superintendent Tami Crader's report on updating district goals and also an overview on budget fundamentals and the process for coming up with the 2014-15 school budget. Board members already had begun discussing some of the parameters of next year's school budget at the first board meeting of 2014.

Also on Tuesday, the Watchung Hills Regional High School board is scheduled to hold its second meeting of 2014 at 7 p.m. The meeting also will be the second time that the school board, which previously met in the school's media center, will be meeting in the building's new South Auditorium, unveiled last fall.

Although the Warren Township Committee is planning to at least get starting on plans for a new municipal annex in 2014, Thursday night's meeting is planned for the usual location at 46 Mountain Blvd. However, a new mayor for this year, Gary DiNardo, will be at the helm.
