Warren Reorganization Meeting Changed to Jan. 8 — With One Swearing In This Week

Township Committeeman Carolann Garafola to be sworn in — twice — for seventh term.

The first meeting of the year for the Warren Township Committee — at which 2013's deputy mayor, Gary DiNardo, is expected to be chosen as mayor, with Township Committeeman Mick Marion to be moved up to deputy mayor — has been moved to Jan. 8.

The meeting, originally scheduled a day earlier, has been moved since DiNardo was unable to make the first date, said members of the Township Committee. Each year, under Warren's form of government, the members of the committee vote to select a mayor and deputy mayor for a one-year term.

DiNardo will replace this year's mayor, Victor Sordillo, who will continue serving as Township Committeeman. DiNardo and Sordillo were running mates in 2012 before they were re-elected to the all-Republican Township Committee.

Township Committeewoman Carolann Garafola also will be sworn onto a seventh term — twice.

Garafola said that since her husband, Ralph Garafola, is unable to be at the Jan. 8 reorganization meeting, she will legally be sworn in at her home in a ceremony on Jan. 2 — this Thursday.

She said Township Clerk Patricia Rocco will conduct the swearing in.

Garafola said that at the public meeting, the start of her new three-year term will be recognized with a ceremonial swearing in.
