It was a very active year for local school news, with a new superintendent, Elizabeth Jewett, taking the helm at Watchung Hills High School, new board members elected to both the Warren Township and Watchung Hills, and school funding for construction in both school districts.

Along with celebrating Warren Township's high ranking in New Jersey Monthly's Best Places to live in the state, and in Central Jersey, there were a number of instances where township residents pitched in to help their neighbors — or others — when needed. 

Watchung Hills, Warren Township School Boards to Swear in New Members on Jan. 6

With school board elections moved to November, newly elected board members are scheduled to be sworn into new terms at the reorganization meetings for the Warren Township and Watchung Hills High School boards of education, both set for Monday night, Jan. 6. Three members will be sworn onto the Warren board, and two, including a board veteran who is returning, are scheduled to take a spot on the Watchung Hills HS board.

Fire Destroys Home, Warren Woman Charged with Vehicular Homicide Top 2013 News in Warren

A number of fires in top stories of the year for 2013. In addition, township resident Lori Weiss is charged, and later accepts sentence, in driving under the influence in a crash that killed a Bridgewater man.
