Watchung Hills' squeeze play in the 10th wins a thriller in the Somerset County Tournament semifinals.
The Watchung Hills High School softball team had plenty of opportunities to hang its head and give up on Saturday’s Somerset County Tournament semifinals game. But no matter the deficit or the inning, the Warriors never lost focus, and it paid off. Watchung Hills Pop Warner enjoyed a terrific season in 2011—the Pee Wee football team won the Garden State Championships while the Jr. Pee Wee and Midget Cheerleaders were finalists in the National Championships in Disney World football and cheer programs to include those individuals who have special needs. This year, the Challenger Division will be open to children ages 5-16 with disabilities. The Challenger games are shortened, non-competitive games, however, they will be modeled after a typical Pop Warner flag football game with warm-ups, coin toss, National Anthem and cheerleaders for team spirit. WHPW will provide both football and cheer uniforms to their participants as well as a top-notch facility for practice and games. All games…
