Bridgewater, Bernards and Newark will go head to head in competition.
With bands from Bernards and Bridgewater in attendance, the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster is hosting Battle of the Bands Saturday as part of Youth Art Month. According to a release from the center, this event is part of the Youth Art Month programming, and will be held Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the location on Burnt Mills Road in Bedminster. The event will feature performances by “Into the Trees” from Bernards High School, “Impulse” from Bridgewater-Raritan High School and “Panic Switch” from Newark Academy. The public is invited to attend the event, and the winning band will receive a $100 gift certificate to the Guitar Center. Admission is $5 at the door for the event. Refreshments will be served. March is Youth Art Month at the Center for Contemporary Art.
A painting by Sophie Marsillo, a fifth-grader at Central School, will be featured in The Center for Contemporary Art's 14th annual Youth Art Month show, featuring art by students from Basking Ridge, Warren, Hillsborough and several others. The exhibition will take place throughout part of March in an exhibition of Somerset County student work done in partnership with Art Educators of New Jersey. In addition to Sophie's wrok, the show will also include art by Central School's Jack Martin, Francesca Maiorano, Juliette Brady, Andrew Conway, Claire Gillenwater, Alice Liu, Hannah Stacy, Daniel Zeng, Samantha Glass, Grace Zamora and Kristen Hamilton. Mel Leipzig is coming to the Center for Contemporary Art.
Sometimes there's just not enough days in the week, but every Wednesday we'll give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family and just take some time for yourself. Living legend New Jersey painter Mel Leipzig is visiting the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster Thursday to discuss painting, art and the Romantic Realism exhibit, currently on display at the center. Leipzig, according to a release from the center, was recently featured in an NJN documentary that aired across the country, and was on the cover of the November issue of “Professional Artist” magazine.
