Six Warren Students Recognized in Elks' Essay Contest

Annual contest asked students to answer what the national anthem means to them.

Each year, the Watchung Hills Elks Foundation sponsors an Americanism essay contest, asking area students in grades five through eight to write an essay on a patriotic topic—this year's essay topic was “What Does the National Anthem Mean to Me?”   Six Warren students received awards in the local contest, including:  The essays were judged on originality, development of the student's theme, and mechanics and neatness.       "This is a most important contest because it involves school children in your area in Americanism at its best and shows that the Members of your Lodge are proud to be Americans, proud to be Elks and proud to participate in the Americanism programs of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks," Ira Earp, chairman of the…
