VIDEO: Warren's Favorite Band Packs Municipal Complex

Michael Craig Band caps Music Under the Stars program

The Michael Craig Band—winners of Warren Patch's Readers Choice 2012 for Best Cover Band—performed in the final Music Under the Stars program, Thursday, drawing a crowd to the municipal complex. The band—Michael Doyle and Craig Helgeson—performed their versions of popular songs. In the video (captured by Recreation Commission Director Eleanora Hermann), Doyle and Helgeson perform Marc Cohn's "Walking in Memphis." The Recreation Commission shifts to a pair of teen rock concerts next, featuring Short Circuit on Sept. 14 and Glass Cow Sept. 28, at the municipal complex. Both concerts will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Weather Forecast Pushes Warren's Outdoor Concert Indoors

Tonight's program moved to Watchung Hills.

The Warren Township Recreation Commission's Music Under the Stars free concert for Thursday has been moved inside, thanks to the predicted hot and rainy weather forecast. Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society will perform in the Performing Arts Center at Watchung Hils at 7 p.m. Nugent specializes in performances of jazz favorites from the early days of jazz, with compositions by Eddie Lang, Joe Venuto, Jelly Roll Morton and Bix Biederbecke among the selections. The show had been planned for the municipal complex, but the expected thunderstorm activity forced the change. Residents are welcome to bring thier own refreshments, however, food and drink cannot be brought into the PAC, and must be enjoyed in the school lobby.

Rain Delay and Schedule Changes for Warren Music Programs

Recreation Commission's Music Under the Stars series reconfigured

Thursday's date for Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society Big Band performance slated for 7 p.m. at the municipal complex has been reschedueld for next week, at the same time. The concert was reschedued because of rain and other complications, and was able to slotted in the time next week because of the cancellation of the township's third annual Battle of the Bands event. The battle event did not draw enough contestants to be held, and has been canceled. Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society will perform selections from the early days of jazz, by composers and performers such as Eddie Lang and

Music Under the Stars Returns Thursday

Township's annual outdoor music program returns.

The annual Music Under the Stars program, which offers a free music concert at the municipal complex, launches this week, with Bob Marino and Barbra Lawson. The two have been building a following with their concerts combining solo and duo performances of selections from the Great American Songbook, Broadway favorites and other popular song selections. They performed together at the Stonecrest Community Church April 21. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.—bring blankets or chairs to relax. In the event of rain, head for the nearby municipal courtroom.   Marino and Lawson will give a repeat performance June 28. Other concerts planned for the summer include a June 21 show by jazz combo The Bill Noren Group, one-time Ozzie stand-in Joe Cerisano …
